The contractor has an engineer, and you usually do not.
On a storage project the contractor has its own engineer, while the buyer usually has none. Owner’s engineering means that an independent engineer represents you, the owner. It closes that gap without a conflict of interest, because you pay us and the contractor does not.

What you get and what we need
We review the design before you sign, coordinate with the grid operator through the connection process and visit the site during construction. We witness commissioning (the first start-up and testing of the system), keep a list of deviations and defects and give you an acceptance recommendation.

We work from the signed contract, the specification and the contractor’s documents as the project runs. Site access and direct contact with the contractor’s project lead keep the review moving without delay.

Contract and design review
We review the contract and the design before you sign anything.
Construction phase visits
We visit the site through construction to catch deviations early.
Commissioning
We witness commissioning and check it against the contracted operating modes.
Acceptance
We compile the defect list and recommend acceptance or withholding it.
Warranty-period review
We review performance during the warranty period on your behalf.
Role and fee
This is how we are engaged on this service and how the fee is set.
One role per project
On every project we take one of two roles, never both. As independent advisor we are paid a fee, earn nothing on hardware and take no commission from manufacturers or installers. As turnkey partner we deliver the system through vetted installation partners under one contract. If we wrote the specification or evaluate the bids, we do not bid.
Fee
Load-profile analysis, feasibility studies, quote reviews and acceptance tests are offered at a fixed price agreed on the scope. Owner's engineering is billed by day rate or as a fixed fee. Turnkey delivery is a fixed-price contract.
